MMW: August 17th

Jennifer Lawrence celebrated her 25th birthday over the weekend and I’m celebrating the evolution of her style as MMW today. The screen siren is known for doing her own thing, and we love her for it. Now there’s even more to love from J-Law as she shows us a whole new fashion-forward side. Her once simple and slightly boho style has recently transformed into an edgy and sophisticated attitude. Perhaps spending time in NYC has spurred on all these form-fitting silhouettes and stylish crop tops? Whatever the reason, her new looks are ever in her favor.

CelineGloveShoesLookDePernille

Celine’s glove shoe isn’t news to the fashion world, in fact it debuted almost a year ago in the S/S 15 collection, but as other (more affordable) brands are taking on the trend it’s finally becoming the major vogue in shoes. Not dissimilar from the ballerina flat, the glove design is a more modern version that also comes in heels– and in every color imaginable. Yes, they’re way out of budget, but hey, if the glove fits…you might just be guilty of a major fashion splurge.

ReeseWitherspoonMMWY’all heard of Reese Witherspoon’s lifestyle brand Draper James? Well ” charm and grace” may be their motto but it’s also adorable and stylish. It’s about time the stylish actress launched a brand of her own, which debuted in the Spring, and about time I featured her as MMW. The southern sweetheart turned SoCal transplant always brings a whole new twist to LA style with her Tennessee roots. Whether she’s wearing gingham tops with boyfriend jeans, or pearls (a personal fave) and a boho hat, Reese makes laid-back lady-like. Southern charm never looked so effortless, take a tip from Reese and incorporate elegant details into your everyday look for a simple touch of polish.

JanieBryantBlackHaloS4S

Janie Bryant’s mad genius work on Mad Men is finally available to stylish gals of the 21st century through her collaboration with Black Halo. The collection features eight amazing pieces and I’m desperately sighing for one of her elegantly edgy designs. Modest skirt lengths are paired with sexy slits and bold prints are balanced with soft silhouettes — it’s everything you could hope for and more from the Emmy-nominated costume designer. Check out the collection for your own Mad Men moment.

OverallTrend

Summer is all about relaxing, and your style should be no different. A pair of denim overalls is the epitome of relaxed summer style. Oversize or 70’s-style, it’s a go-to for a comfy and chic look. Its stylish cousin, the overall dress, has made quite a few appearances as well, but it’s not nearly as versatile if you like spontaneous summer romps like me. True to their name, you can throw overalls literally over anything: a bikini at the beach, a bandeau and heels for drinks, or even a sweater and booties to transition into fall. Fashionistas are all over the overall trend, and you should be too!

MelissaMcCarthyMMW

This comedienne’s got more than jokes, she’s got Style. Melissa McCarthy isn’t as well known for her fashion choices as she is for her acting, but that might change with the upcoming launch of her clothing line next month. The actress actually studied textiles before moving to NYC with friend Brian Atwood (yup, designer Brian Atwood), where she forewent finishing at FIT to pursue stand-up. Over 20 years later her designer dreams are coming true and we finally get to see a rather over-shadowed side to Melissa. To say her Style is bold is an understatement. She’s fond of trends and patterns, which she keeps sophisticated by opting for monochromatic palettes and muted colors. From sneaker wedges to pussy bows, her Style is a healthy mix of classic and edgy. Take a tip from Melissa and mix it up a bit– even if you end up laughing at yourself, fashion is all about having fun.

ChrissyTeigenBeachHair

Summer’s not over yet, meaning there are plenty of beach days still ahead. With that in mind, this Sunday I’m sighing for a beach babe hair moment. Beach hair gets big, and wavy, and salty, and there’s nothing you can do about it– but that’s the most beautiful thing. Embracing the natural rebel in your hair is the most liberating feeling, making for some seriously stylish confidence. Forget the big hat and unleash the beast– these waves are your best beach accessory.
