Summer is about celebration, and nothing feels more fashionably festive than tassels in warm weather. From boho beachwear to designer shoes and accessories, they’ve been trending all over lately. The exotic vibe of tassels is just so appealing, as if they were a sartorial sign that you’re on vacation. Standing out with their bright colors and eye-catching movement, they are the ultimate fashion accessory for celebration. Need something to celebrate? In honor of Bastille day, check out this festivenecklace in bleu blanc & rouge made by French jewelry designer Aurelie Bidermann.

Summer is here and skin is in! There are two solid options to take advantage of the warm weather with this trend; if you’re more of a free spirit, go bare with crop tops and strapless dresses, or if you’re more conservative choose styles with sheer details. This trend may be specific to summer, but you can always count on it coming back every year, so go ahead, stock up on those off-the-shoulder (Reformation) dresses!

Trending this week: Love. Girls and boys all over the world are celebrating this big step in history, and America has never been so colorful. Rainbows were spotted all over the internet, including my personal favorite, the cover of a 1926 Vogue, which was posted on the magazine’s website last Saturday. Wear a fun and colorful outfit with pride this week to show your support!

Trending this Tuesday is the retro bikini‘s equally stylish cousin: the one-piece. Featured here is another coachella-worthy design by the amazing Mara Hoffman. With the help of cool designers like Mara, the one-piece is making a come-back with colors, patterns, plunging necklines, cut-outs– you name it! Long gone are the days where one-pieces were reserved for moms and swim teams. Slip into one of these for a stylish–nay, fashion forward–summer suit.

Trending this Tuesday: Orange is the New Black– and not just the Netflix series. The hit show was released just in time for summer, brightening up our screens with juicy jail drama and our closets with color inspiration. A very hot color for a very hot season, Orange is to Summer what Black is to Winter. Whether you choose orange in a simple sheath dress or small accessory, the bold color gives a warm pop of color to any outfit– It’s just what your wardrobe (and your Netflix queue) needed.

For our first West Coast family reunion with little kids (and big kids too!), I’ve got one thing on my mind: Disneyland. Upon researching our upcoming trip to the original magic kingdom, I discovered the Vans collaboration with Disney, and was pleasantly surprised to see that Mickey and Minnie are making a comeback. As timeless as they are, this isn’t the first time that Mr. and Mrs. Mouse have trended in fashion. Vintage anything is always in vogue among street style stars, but Mickey and Minnie are near and dear to any big kid’s heart, making them especially fun and youthful in the sometimes serious world of fashion.

Probably because Queen B is single-handedly making them cool again in her new music video “Feeling Myself”, metallic flash tattoos are making a comeback. Temporary tattoos are the stuff of our youth, and for that they’re a summer staple. There’s no doubt that the boho tats just ooze California cool (I should know by now, right?). After all, nothing looks better with sun-kissed skin than some golden accessories to match. Wear them with a maxi dress, bangles, and long locks for the ultimate summer look that’s fit for a sun goddess.

Ever since Apple announced it would be making a watch, I’ve been curious to see how it would do in the fashion world. Then, as I scrolled through my Instafeed last week, there it was, popping up on the wrists of the world’s most fashionable (and technologically-savvy) ladies. It’s a thing–a big thing–and with three different versions, the Watch, Watch Sport, and Watch Edition, there’s one for everyone. Grab yours while they last–techy is now the new trendy.

This week’s trend headline: Stars are jumping back into jumpsuits! The 70’s-inspired theme has been everywhere this week–in Cannes on Rachel Weisz, and on both Taylor Swift and Chrissy Teigen at the Billboard Music Awards. The super flattering shape stays tasteful by balancing adécolleté with covered legs, while the flared shape of the pants elongate the legs, creating one seamlessly sexy silhouette. To really pull the elongating look together, pair your jumpsuit with heels and voilà–legs for days!

True to their name, gladiator sandals have been fighting to stay on trend, and they’ve done a pretty good job so far. Their slight unpredictability despite so many comebacks still keeps them fresh without becoming too trendy. Perhaps their appeal comes from their difficulty to actually pull them off. The trick to making them really work in your wardrobe is not to let them visually truncate your legs. Avoid this by pairing them with shorter skirts and dresses in neutral hues to elongate your gams. Skin-colored sandals are even easier to wear because they blend into your legs more easily, allowing you to get more creative with the rest of your outfit. Dominate these shoes and you’re ready to seize the day!

Are mixed prints out? Fashion’s getting awfully matchy matchy this season. The beautiful Kerry Washington stepped out in matching separates by Tanya Taylor earlier this week, and she’s not the first to be rocking this retro look. Even with pants there is something so prim and proper about this trend. One of the girliest looks this season, matching separates are just so endearing and polished. Perhaps my favorite part about it, though, is it’s probably the easiest outfit you’ll ever put together. And for those days when you’re feeling a little rambunctious, unmatch your separates with a whole new print for a whole new look!

One of my favorite L.A.-based brands, Reformation never fails to produce the most stunningly simple designs. This off-the-shoulder silhouette is all over their website, and soon it will be all over the streets too. It’s so perfect for spring and summer, embodying the skin-baring spirit that the warm weather affords us after a long winter hibernation. Embrace the tasteful trend this season for a sexy little spring in your step.

One man’s trash is another man’s treasure–or in this case, one man’s button-up shirt is another woman’s bustier top. Fashion teaches us many things, and in this case it’s being creative. From scarves to skirts, and now to shirts, sleeves are being used to create the illusion of a laid-back bow. This clever idea is not only effortlessly chic, it’s also eco-friendly. Say goodbye to making art smocks out of old shirts, and say hello to a chic new trend.

It’s simple. It’s stylish. It’s denim. The often overlooked fabric is reinventing itself this Spring, appearing in all shapes and silhouettes. The playful take on the utilitarian fabric allows denim clothing to maintain its practicality while still being stylish. Not to mention the automatic 70s glam it lends to an everyday outfit, denim gives us that effortless chicness we all crave.

The underwear that first shocked the nation in the 90’s in controversial billboards is now making an impressive comeback twenty years later. It was recently announced that Kendall Jenner will be the new face of Calvin Klein Jeans, which has previously been represented by Justin Bieber and (originally) Kate Moss and Mark Wahlberg. A celeb fave, Calvin Klein undies have been trending all over the internet with the hash tag #MyCalvins. For more #MyCalvin moments or to make your own, visit the Calvin Klein website.

If your jeans are falling apart then you’re in luck this season–embroidered jeans are making a comeback! Covering up your holes with patches, rhinestones, and embroidered motifs is no longer just clever, it’s actually on trend. Turn your daily jeans into a statement piece by choosing designs that speak to you; pair with a simple white tee and flats or heels and you’re an instant street Style star.

There’s nothing flirtier than fringe, and fashionistas have been noticing that around the world. One of fashion month’s favorite trends, fringe is the perfect transitional texture. The long strips cover just enough leg to keep you warm in the shade but welcome a warm breeze in a such a sexy way. Though this texture sways on the trendier side, it’s a movement everyone should try this Spring season.

It’s no surprise what color is trending on St. Patty’s, so if you’re in a pinch for some last-minute green try throwing on a festive accessory that’s hard to miss. A chunky and loud green, like the one on this necklace, will surely keep you from turning black and blue the next day–as long as you remember to drink any green-colored beverages responsibly, of course!

We’re all dying to show a little skin as winter winds down, and Mules are here to make our Spring dreams come true! Making quite the comeback, these shoes have everything a sensible Sartorialist needs; not only are they on-trend and elegant, but the block heel keeps you comfy all day long–not to mention the fresh-air factor for your little piggies!

All. Sweater. Everything. That’s everyone’s winter dream, right? Well it’s coming to life in such a Stylish way. Thanks to designers like Marc Jacobs, what used to be is lazy is now the new luxe. More and more Stylish sartorialists have been spotted in sweater from head to toe, giving us a great excuse to keep it cozy and casual.

While it may be safe to say that coats are definitely trending this time of year, the kimono coat is another level of trendy. Seen at fashion weeks all over the globe, this boxy, sometimes long silhouette is such a fun (not to mention super cozy) statement for winter. Bundle up in any vibrantly-colored kimono coat for a chic and warm winter look.

It seems the fashion world just isn’t over Valentine’s yet–pink is trending! If I were lucky enough to be at New York Fashion Week, the soft touch of pink to a all those bleh black and grey looks would be enough to bring a smile to my frozen face. Baby pink fits beautifully into the winter wardrobe, consider adding it to yours to brighten up those cold, dark days.

With Valentine’s Day coming up this weekend, love is in the air and on couture. Hearts are popping up everywhere, making the perfect date-night dresses. A bit kitschy any other time of year, this trend might be over in a heartbeat, but still–who wouldn’t want Valentino for Valentine’s?

With many parts of the country piled under snow right now, it’s no wonder shearling is making a come-back–Colder weather just means cooler trends! Shearling coats are popular across the board for their warmth, but they’re especially popular with fashionistas because they add texture to an otherwise one-dimensional winter wool ensemble. Such a classic coat is always a safe and Stylish bet–it’s worth investing in.

If last week’s statement coat was a little too risky for you, you’ll love this week’s trending coat. Safe but always Stylish, a long camel coat is one for the ages. The beautifully rich yet neutral hue is flattering on anyone, but it can also dress up the most casual of outfits–double-breasted, wrap, lapel or no lapel, the camel coat is versatile in design and in Style. Wear it buttoned up with heels and a red lip for a confident ensemble, or dress it down with casual flats and tousled hair for an everyday look. This elegant camel coat is certainly worth investing in–it may be trending right now, but a timeless beauty like this is bound to be back again and again.

A statement coat is an easy fix for those of us feeling a bit frumpy in the winter months–it’s no wonder they’re trending right now! Since a piece like this is practically an outfit in and of itself, look out for bargains; this is not an investment piece to wear over and over again, you’ll just get tired of it. Look for spunky colors, patterns, or textures that strike your fancy and be bold, not cold!

Sportswear has become the new street Style and your laundry-day look is officially “in”. Thanks to designers like Alexander Wang and collaborations like Stella McCartney for Adidas, this trend has been a long time coming. The trick to this trend (and to any Stylish outfit for that matter) is balance. Any casual sports-inspired piece should be complemented with dressier items to polish off the look. Pair leggings or sweatpants with heels and a blazer, and muscle tees or sweatshirts with a skirt–and voila! Comfy and chic!

Culottes–cute or cooky? Both! With a french name it’s no wonder they’re so popular with fashion’s finest, but they have yet to stick with the everyday girl–namely, me! If you’re feeling a little spunky and ready for a fashion challenge, here are some tips on styling the peculiar pants: most importantly, wear heels. The cropped nature of culottes cuts off your legs and will make them look short if you don’t elongate them with some height. Next, stay true to the boxy silhouette with slightly oversized sweaters and coats–anything too tight will over-exaggerate the pants, making them look clownish. Lastly, wear them with your most Stylish accessory–confidence!

Ever since Pantone announced Marsala as 2015’s Color of the Year earlier this month, the hue has already been popping up everywhere on the fashion scene (we’re always one step ahead, if you haven’t noticed). The warm earth-toned color is the perfect addition to your year-round wardrobe, heating up your look in winter and naturally sizzling in summer. Adding Marsala to your armoire is a fashion resolution anyone can make this New Year!

The sneaker trend may ebb and flow, and I personally have yet to master it, but when done just right it’s absolutely brilliant. It works really well with a stunning dress (the colors should complement each other in some way) or a casual luxury look–I’m talking cashmere sweats and an oversized sweater. The cool factor is inherent to sneakers, so the trick is to keep them in good shape so they appear as polished as the rest of your look. Master this trend and your sneaks are sure to make you a Street Style star!

Fashion is full of surprises. Just when you think you’ve tied your scarf every way imaginable, you realize you’ve forgotten to use your sweater as a scarf! I adore this trend for its innovative use of a simple sweater–as I’ve always said, Style is all about working with what you’ve got. Simply flip a light sweater over your shoulder, tie it snugly, and voila!

Trends are headed West this year–and so it seems I happen to be on trend, too! Fringe, suede, and colorful beads may be taking over Spring 2015, but fashionistas are always one step ahead so it’s no surprise that the western trend has already made an appearance this fall/winter season. Rich suede and warm earthy colors are actually quite the perfect fashion fix for blustery winters! Try spicing up your winter wardrobe with a little western charm and you’ll warm up in no time!

I know it’s cooky, but I maintain that socks with sandals are adorably Stylish! Sure, this isn’t your mainstream trend, but pulling it off will win you some serious Street Style points. This time of year, the trick is to pick a pump or open-toe bootie (I love suede for this look in winter) in a dark or jewel-toned color. To avoid appearing sloppy, a heel is a must to keep the look polished. It should look like you know exactly what you’re doing, so go all in and pick a sock in a complementary color with a cute print. And don’t forget to keep the rest of your outfit toned down, Halloween is over, folks!

One of the season’s hottest trends is furry and (animal) friendly! International street style is showing that fur is out and faux is in. Largely due to the popularity of Britain’s outerwear brand Shrimps, there is certainly a place for faux fur in the fashion world. Luckily, faux fur has long been a budget-friendly option for frugal fashionistas. Check out retailers like Forever 21 and Topshop for Stylish coats, vests, and hats that won’t hurt your wallet or our fuzzy friends.

Felt hats may be trending again for fall, but do these classic shapes ever go out of Style? Floppy, wide-brimmed, small-brimmed–the choices are endless, but they’ll all do the trick to add some Style to a simple outfit. The best part is that you don’t have to shop at Saint Laurent or Lanvin to get the look (unless you want Rabbit felt). Cute styles are abundantly available through retailers like Asos and Urban Outfitters for under $50.

A turtleneck will help you keep your chin up, but long are the days where they make you look uptight. Turtlenecks are everywhere this season, which goes to show how versatile they actually are. Wear a fitted one under a short-sleeved dress for a perfectly layered look, or try a slouchy one with boyfriend jeans and heels to complete the look. Whichever you decide on, you’re guaranteed to look and feel cozy chic in this fall trend.

Now these boots are made for walking! This may just be fall’s hottest trend–and it keeps your legs warm, too! Over-the-knee boots pair perfectly with a dress or mini skirt and chunky sweater for an effortless I-woke-up-like-this look. The ultimate pair (as seen on Gisele) can be found at Stuart Weitzman. Buy them in suede for sheer sophistication, it will add elegance to any outfit.

Three words: Dare. to. flare. That’s right! I’m not talking boot-cut (or bell-bottoms for that matter) but a stellar pair of flare. To incorporate this trend into your fall wardrobe, pair it with a chunky knit turtleneck and some heeled booties. To avoid the baggy boho look, note that a high waist worn with heels elongates the legs to create super-slim thighs. And for a more polished look, pick a dark pair with a front pleat that almost hits the floor, covering most of your shoe (this look is amazing with a blazer). Don’t be scared of this trend, fashion friends–the right flare will easily become your most flattering pair!

The leather skirt may be trending this season, but it will never go out of Style. The trick is to find a circle or skater silhouette to give the leather a flirty airiness. Anything stiff looks old and outdated, so beware of pleats or straight A-line styles. The most beautiful thing about this trend is that it goes with everything. Preppy and edgy, the skirt lends itself well to a simple tee or busy blouse. It’s a staple in any fashionista’s closet, regardless of her Style.

Fall calls for cozy couture–it’s no wonder Burberry’s blanket poncho has been such a hit this season. The new trend in effortless chic is this laid back wrap made popular by the likes of Cara Delevigne, Olivia Palermo, and SJP. These lucky gals managed to snag one before they sold out, with their initials monogrammed no less. The casually chic poncho looks good on just about everything and everyone, so even if Burberry’s not in the budget, this trend is worth investing in. If you don’t like what you see in stores, consider picking out a patterned wool from the fabric store for a DIY project.

Dior’s fresh faced starlet wowed again in recent photos wearing double-faced pearl stud earrings. Although the earrings were first featured on Dior’s runway almost a year ago, they have yet to gain much traction off the red carpet. As a trendy spin on a classic, these studs work perfectly to tone down a preppy outfit for an edgier feel or to add some polish to an everyday look. For a budget-friendly version, see Amazon’s similar options.

Nude nails have never looked better (spoiler alert: it’s because this “nude” requires polish). This bare manicure is perfect for a low-key polished look, not to mention the fact that it goes with absolutely everything. For a warmer look, my personal fave, seek out nudes or light pinks with brown undertones like Essie’s “Topless and Barefoot” (pictured above).

The tucked belt is one of my favorite trends this fall, in fact I did the same before it even became a trend (it’s a chic solution to too-long belts)! Another reason this trend is a fave is because it’s totally DIY, no need to break the bank on Louis. Take any flexible belt, close it where it comfortably fits right above your waist, and tuck the extra inches under the belt so the end sticks out a bit. For me this is a waist look, here’s why: firstly, for practical reasons, your belt won’t be long enough for this look to sit at your hips, and secondly, from a Stylist’s perspective, it would add bulk to your hips, making them appear larger. Cinching it at the waist instead creates an hourglass figure–voila! Who wouldn’t want that?

Ringing in Trendy Tuesday this week are another cool girl favorite: midi rings. I’m a big fan because they give the illusion of elongating my fingers, rather than cutting them off like traditional rings do. Not to mention how boho chic this trend is; it perfectly complements a simple maxi dress and flowing hair. For an edgier look, sport it with jeans, a plain tee, and a leather jacket. Your best cheap and chic options for any Style can be found at my favorites, Nasty Gal and Madewell.

The fierce ear cuff trend has become the cool girl’s staple for about a year now (think Cara Delevingne and J Law)–and it’s not going anywhere. If you’re like me and you think this trend might be a little too edgy for you, think again! For me it was Sophia Bush’s Jacob & Co. Snake ear cuff that re-imagined the possibilities of this trendy piece. Though the snake is a bit sinister, the slithering shape is softer and more elegant than some of those over-the-top cuffs, which has almost become the mainstream style sold by large retailers. I checked out Etsy for more delicate, subtle, and playful options.

Ever wish you could stay in your big comfy sweatshirt and just slip on a fancy skirt to pop out the door looking chic? One of Fall’s hottest trends is making opposites attract with cozy sweatshirts and classy skirts. First start with a casual (but not frumpy) sweatshirt–graphics and french words are always a plus if you’re aiming for extra trendiness. Loosely tuck the front of the sweatshirt into a sophisticated-looking skirt–that means clean lines and solid colors. Note that high-waisted skirts work particularly well with cropped sweaters, and if your sweatshirt is bulky make sure your skirt stays sleeker (and vice versa). For longer and fuller skirts (which I personally prefer for this look), finish the look with heels to elongate your figure–too much bulk shortens and, well, fattens. It may take some trial and error but once you nail this look it’s a stellar go-to for a lazy day.
